Getaway To Amsterdam

July 11, 2012 • AmsterdamTravel

it’s embarrassing how little time i’ve spent in amsterdam so far, seeing how close it is to antwerp and how it is such a cool place. i definitely need to schedule some quality time there, stat.

we will probably be staying with family when we go there (they have the raddest apartment on the prinsengracht, it is seriously so. cool.) but if we wouldn’t, the stylish and cosy guesthouse maison rika would be our lodging of choice.

amsterdam has a lot to offer in terms of culture, but i’m most excited about its photography museum foam – with an excellent gift shop, so i’ve heard – and the brand new location of the eye film museum. situated on the ij and boasting formidable architecture, it looks like the perfect place to immerse yourself in film history.

as for food, amsterdam has some serious gems. i’ve told you about gebr. hartering before – next time i would love to check out seasonal restaurant de kas, with its green surroundings and spectacular reputation. and i wouldn’t want to miss foodie store stach either.

for a shopping and coffee fix, head over to friday next, which combines both in style.
