eating, i am a master at. cooking, not so much. i can’t tell you how excited i am to be living under the same roof as my boyfriend again soon – because he more than makes up for my lack of talent in the culinary department. we are currently rediscovering the simple things, like homemade pesto with our home grown basil and roasted walnuts and pine nuts (a genius combination, so i learned). i was never really a big fan of pesto – but that was before we made our own, obviously. i loved tweaking the recipe until we got it just right for our taste.

I was hoping you would write about that pesto. ;-)
Please do share the recipe, I would like to try it as well.
hi kelly – it’s actually so easy. just chop up your basil leaves, roast some walnuts and pine tree nuts and add them to the mix, add olive oil until you’re happy with the smoothness and parmesan until it’s tangy enough for you. and then just add coarse salt (we love fleur de sel) and pepper to your taste. it’s such a quick way to whip up a pasta dish, it’s crazy we hadn’t tried it before!
It looks like it’s pretty similar to the hazelnut pesto I made before. I will definitely try this!
ps: fleur de sel is the best :)
And then she forgot about the freshly squeezed lemon juice that we added… :-)
of course he’s right. and that confirms my status as kitchen help! thanks for that sweetie ;)
