y’all know me enough by now to expect that any situation combining coffee and design will have me giddy with excitement (and heart palpitations). the warehouse area at milan’s venture lambrate did just that. it had no less than two coffee stops – one coffee cabin outside with questionable vintage playboy posters plastered all over, and one coffee bar sponsored by diesel.

both places had belgian and dutch baristas, imagine that. they flew in from places like caffe nation, so we felt right at home. the best part about the espresso i had indoors (yeah you bet i had two, i’ve never passed a good coffee bar without getting a hit of caffeine) was the cup in which it was served. it was made by alissa + nienke and it was gorgeous. i severely regret not having shelled out the dough to take it home with me.

there was lots of interesting design to be discovered at the warehouse, too. i finally saw bertjan pot’s rad ‘downstairs’ chandelier up close, and i have a feeling it’s going to be a very good design year for fellow geo-afficionados. literally every cool object i saw had some kind of geo-shape or quality.
