deryné has to be my favorite place in budapest – safe for our friends’ apartment, which was the cozy and blissfully airconditioned place where we spent a couple of days this summer. they introduced us to deryné when we first came to visit them last fall and we fell in love, hard.
let me count the reasons. it has the nicest terrace area, complete with a little kiosk that sells fresh bread. interior-wise, it’s as authentic a french bistro as you’ll find outside of france. they serve amazing bread. they have a foie dish that i only eat there, once a year, quieting my conscience with bubbly. don’t judge. and we always spend amazing evenings and mornings there with our friends, who we don’t see nearly enough.
