i can’t tell you how long i had been looking forward to staying at the ace hotel in palm springs. in fact, it’s the one and only reason why we added palm springs to our itinerary in california (though i’m glad we did for other reasons as well, such as the drives through the mojave desert and joshua tree park). and needless to say after all of these pictures, the hotel did not disappoint.
it’s quirky, it’s cool, and yes, it’s a little hipster – but it’s also super relaxed and comfortable. we booked a room with a patio and a fireplace and completely fell in love the minute we set foot in it. it has all the details you expect from ace, but the patio really made all the difference. we had such a romantic time there, lounging around the fire and ordering room service to eat al fresco, just the two of us.
we stayed there during the week, so there weren’t any parties or crowds (which we were glad for), but i’ve heard it’s a different vibe during the weekend. we did, however, witness one of the infamous ace hotel weddings on our first night there (when this also happened) and it looked awesome. we played ping pong, loaned two of their cruiser bikes, had breakfast at the adjacent restaurant king’s highway every morning and basically enjoyed some downtime next to and in the pool, sipping la sanchas (my favorite cocktail there).
oh, and of course we had to take a couple of pics in their photobooth. you haven’t been to an ace if you don’t have the photostrip to prove it!

Wauw, dat ziet er mij een prachtig hotel uit!
The Ace Hotel is so high on my wish list, both in Palm Springs and NYC. I’m not so sure though if I can convince the hubby to spend the $$$ on it, since it sure look pricey or am I wrong here?
@Kelly the beauty of Ace Hotel is that is has rooms for different budgets, and they start at quite an accessible price, imo. we stayed at the ace in palm springs during the week, which was considerably cheaper than during the weekend. and we stayed there in new york during off season, so it also depends on when you wanna go :)
Love, love, love it! Now I know I definitely have to go there someday, combine it with the new Ace in LA (opening in 2013)! :-) Thanks for the inspiration once again x
