a while ago i was given the opportunity to go crazy in the brand new hay boutique in antwerp, and style my ideal work space there. it was a lot of fun, and i had so many people tell me they loved the desk i put together – of course that has more to do with the overall radness that is hay, than with my styling prowess.
anyhow, the danish design label was kind enough to offer me my favorite item to take home and give a place in my life. i say life and not interior, because often it feels like i’m toting the rather heavy marble chop block all around the apartment with me. i can never decide on a place to leave it for longer than a day, because it just fits in so well – everywhere.
it’s also a dream tool for an instagram addict like myself, because this pretty marble is the perfect backdrop to just about anything you’re trying to show off. no wonder i included it in my fab five over at belgian blog momsandmojitos.com, and i’ve used it in so many other instagram snaps, too. don’t you love it when an object is so versatile? i could never say goodbye to it again.
currently i like to keep it close in my bedroom slash home office – either on my desk to hold my calendar, notebooks and pens, or on our dresser. it goes really well with the beautiful byredo candles, right?
in the pictures above you’ll also spot some remnants from our wedding – the banter banner i had made for our instagram hashtag #stephandmatti and these gorgeous metallic paper uashmama baskets. i’ll share more details from the wedding soon!

I adore Hay! I saw the ideal work space you styled at their Antwerp location and loved it. And I do kind of envy you for that marble chop block (yes, I will admit to that).
ps: aren’t those metallic paper Uashmama baskets the best? They’re so pretty when having guests over for breakfast/lunch/dinner/whatever. So, so versatile, I couldn’t miss them!
