Espresso Embassy

who knew budapest had such a thriving third-wave coffee scene? seems like last time we were there, none of these places were around yet, but now suddenly – boom. we didn’t know where to go first, and ended up doing a caffeine trek throughout the city.

it started with espresso embassy, which our friends who live in budapest pointed out. they have drop coffee and amazing light fixtures, and the sweets looked good, too. they also had free wifi, because duh. but actually a lot of places in budapest – coffee or not – have that. geneva, are you reading this?

Fekete

it’s good thing i’m starting to build up quite the caffeine tolerance, because when we stopped by fekete in budapest we were offered extra espressos on top of our order. apparently the guy running the show messed up an order and couldn’t see good coffee go to waste, so he rather had us drink it than throw it away.

needless to say we left fekete completely over excited, but i guess that was inevitable. i loved everything about this place – the branding, the fold-out bar tables outside, the decor – even the merchandising. old budapest coffee culture is quickly catching up with modern times, i tell ya.
